Investment Casting Cores
Investment Casting Cores
In 2002, CERadvance acquired the Ceramic Injection Moulding Technology from Technovent, a subsidiary of Mattek at the CSIR in Pretoria. The technology has since been up-dated and fully commercialized, and CERadvance, trading as Groupline Technical Ceramics at the time, was awarded the Best Contribution to Science, Engineering and Technology award by the NSTF. LINE-OX investment casting cores have superior refractory properties and allow for easy removal after casting , either mechanically by means of sand-blasting and drilling, or chemically by leaching in caustic soda at elevated temperatures.
Complex inner geometries, or metals that have work-hardening properties often require ceramic cores for the investment casting process. CERadvance produces high quality injection moulded cores for investment casting to high engineering tolerances in Zircon-based, mullite reinforced and other materials on request. CERadvance’s feedstock is prepared in-house at the Jet Park Factory. Casting cores can be mechanically removed by shotblasting, drilling or leaching processes, depending on the complexity of the cast component
